Reviews for the cinematography of the feature ONE DAY LIKE RAIN...
Variety (Robert Koehler)
“Crystalline imagery (ace work by lenser Douglas W. Shannon)”
Dutch review of "One Day Like Rain" (from Amsterdam Film Festival)
One Day Like Rain is a visual feast with scenes so beautiful it almost hurts. The dreamy atmosphere gets under your skin….
The visual aspect is the driving force of the film... the scene where the empty soda bottle rolls down the street is of poetic beauty.
Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival description:
His visual flair is phenomenal. He shoots from unusual vantage points and interchanges wide panoramic views with extreme close-ups of plants or flowers. In sluggish, decelerated shots, characters wander through long lanes with sunlight filtering through the waving trees.

brilliant cinematography…
beautifully shot…a brilliant choreography of image and music. At times, his slow, panning shots of local landscapes encourage you, alongside Gina, to take a look at the inconspicuous wonders of our little world. His camera shots play up her unique perspective by re-arranging the shapes of our everyday life…asking us to take a look at things from different, but accessible, perspectives. Add to this a soundtrack that is both moving and haunting, and the film takes on a poetic, surreal quality.
Terry Keefe: Venice Magazine
"Stop looking for the next super-cool indie feature. It's arrived with Paul Todisco's One Day Like Rain, a riveting and magical ride which skillfully blends the science-fiction and high school genres. Although ostensibly set in suburban California, the thematic scope of the film is cosmic, and reminiscent at times of The Man Who Fell to Earth, Donnie Darko, and the best of David Lynch. Directed with the surest of hands by Todisco, One Day Like Rain mixes the real and the surreal for a trippy, fun, and occasionally disturbing tale about a teenage girl and the end of the world."

The feature Hubcap World received a ton of rave reviews, here's a few excerpts...
“I thought it was great. Totally romantic. Very moving, beautifully made in every detail... I really loved this film.”
--Owen Gleiberman, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
“An ambitious, prize-winning greaser epic...surely among the best of these.” --Henry Cabot Beck, THE VILLAGE VOICE
“The best work I’ve seen in 16mm in quite a while.” -- Gavin Smith, Film Comment
"...the kind of low-budget, high-quality movie that’s hard to find in the cinema. See the film.” -- Magnus Gardham, Leeds Daily (England)
“...Filmed in beautiful, moody black and white, Hub Cap World is a bittersweet, realistic tale of love set against a backdrop of gritty New Jersey streets. ...With its first-rate acting and visual refinement, Hub Cap World elevates the mundane to the sublime. Noller had taken just another no-budget New Jersey movie and turned it into an uncommonly polished work.” - Syd M, Woodstock Times
